Te Nehenehenui, in partnership with Waitā Freediving, is excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for our iwi members to undergo the Te Haumarutanga – Open Water Freediving Course.
Waitā Scuba Schools International (SSI) Freediving Programme:
This course is scheduled for next month and is designed to equip Kairuku (Divers) and kaimoana gatherers with the skills and confidence to dive safely and competently.
The course aims to grow safe, confident, deeply connected Māori freedivers who can:
Learn essential breath‑hold and diving safety techniques
Deepen their relationship with Moana and whakapapa
Participate in a tikanga‑driven, kaupapa Māori diving experience
Gain a recognised SSI Open Water Freediver qualification
