Te Nehenehenui (TNN) is the Post Settlement Governance Entity for Maniapoto. TNN is responsible for the management of assets to meet the needs and aspirations of our people and to provide for future generations
TNN manages Te Pukeiti, a puna reo dedicated to upholding te reo, te mita, ngā tikanga, ngā taonga tuku iho o Maniapoto me ōnā hapū maha. Te Pukeiti provides engaging and meaningful environments that nurture the language, culture, knowledge, traditions, and identity of Maniapoto as a platform to grow our future generations of tamariki/mokopuna aged 0-6.
Our Kaiako (qualified & registered teachers) support the daily operations of Te Pukeiti by providing a safe, nurturing, and culturally rich learning environment for our tamariki and mokopuna with the guidance of our existing kaimahi.
Our Kaiako are committed to:
- Maintaining professional relationships and values focused on the learning and wellbeing of our tamariki and mokopuna
- Applying professional knowledge in practice that promotes success and learning for all tamariki and mokopuna
- Implementing strategies to enhance socio-emotional competence
The successful applicant will demonstrate their suitability through:
- Espousing, sharing, and integrating mātauranga Maniapoto
- Speaking in te reo Māori
- Using storytelling, waiata, and kupu specific to Maniapoto to captivate tamariki
- Encouraging participation, curiosity, and confidence of tamariki through positive verbal and non-verbal communication
- Integrating creative approaches to learning and engagement
- Embodying whanaungatanga with tamariki, whānau, hapori, and kaimahi
- Adapting communication styles to engage a diverse range of tamariki
To be considered for this opportunity, the ideal candidate will have:
- Teaching qualification recognised by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
- Current Teacher Registration issued by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand
- Either a current full practising certificate or a provisional practising certificate
- Experience in assessment for learning:
- Observations
- Planning
- Learning stories
- Knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori
- Cultural competence and awareness in Māori settings
- Current full driver’s licence
- Current first aid certificate
- General level of fitness (for floor-based play and personal care of tamariki)
- Mātauranga Maniapoto is preferred but not essential
There are multiple permanent and reliever Kaiako roles available with Te Pukeiti. The roles are based in Te Kūiti. To apply for this role, you must have permanent work rights with no restrictions to work in New Zealand and pass a police-vetting check and a Ministry of Justice check.
