Te Nehenehenui (TNN) is the Post Settlement Governance Entity for Maniapoto. TNN is responsible for and management of assets to meet the needs and aspirations of our people and to provide for future generations.
TNN manages Te Pukeiti, a puna reo dedicated to upholding te reo, te mita, ngā tikanga, ngā taonga tuku iho o Maniapoto me ōnā hapū maha. Te Pukeiti provides engaging and meaningful environments that nurture the language, culture, knowledge, traditions, and identity of Maniapoto as a platform to grow our future generations of tamariki/mokopuna aged 0-6.
Tūranga Mahi | Position Overview
Our Kaiāwhina supports the daily operations of Te Pukeiti by providing a safe, nurturing, and culturally rich learning environment for our tamariki and mokopuna with the guidance of our existing kaimahi.
The Kaiāwhina (Casual) role will be responsible for providing personal care and engaging tamariki in learning through:
- Embracing, sharing, and integrating mātauranga Maniapoto
- Speaking in te reo Māori with both kaimahi and tamariki
- Using storytelling, waiata, and kupu specific to Maniapoto to captivate tamariki
- Encouraging participation, curiosity, and confidence of tamariki through positive verbal and non-verbal communication
- Integrating creative approaches to learning and engagement
- Embodying whanaungatanga with tamariki, whānau, hapori, and kaimahi
- Adapting communication styles to engage a diverse range of tamariki
Ngā Pūkenga | Skill/Role Requirements
- Experience working with tamariki aged 6 and under
- Knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori
- Culturally competent in Māori settings
- Current full driver’s licence
- Current first aid certificate
- General level of fitness
- Pass relevant police vetting and Ministry of Justice checks
- Permanent work rights with no restrictions to work in New Zealand
- Mātauranga Maniapoto is preferred but not essential
