EVERYDAY HEALTH PLAN

He āheitanga mō te whānau katoa

Partnering with nib to care for our kaumātua and whānau

Te Nehenehenui is excited to announce a new partnership with nib, offering our kaumātua and whānau access to special health insurance packages.

At the heart of this partnership is a shared goal to provide protection and proactive health support to our kaumātua, with a particular focus on their everyday health and wellbeing.

One of our five focus areas within Punga, our Five-Year Plan is Hauora; building strong, vibrant and healthy whānau and communities through equitable access to mainstream healthcare, mental health care and Rongoā Māori.

This partnership is an important step in that journey, making healthcare more accessible to those who need it most.

First year free for kaumātua

The Te Nehenehenui Everyday Health Plan with nib focuses on everyday health and wellbeing with access to free health insurance for kaumātua 65+ for their first year.

This will be followed by a heavily subsidised insurance package through the TNN and nib partnership, made available after the first year.

Who else has access to this insurance package?

While this health insurance is prioritising our kaumātua, whānau under the age of 65 are also encouraged to access the services provided by joining at their own cost.

Why nib?

Te Nehenehenui has partnered with nib as they’ve shown a consistent commitment to deepening their understanding of Te Ao Māori and strengthening its connections to our culture. Guided by the principles of Tino Rangatiratanga, Kaitiakitanga, and Mana Taurite, nib has actively worked to build meaningful relationships with iwi across Aotearoa.

nib’s Toi Ora initiative was created with the aim of improving Māori health outcomes, with a focus on overall wellbeing. This partnership reflects our commitment to initiatives that put the health and wellbeing of our people first, acknowledging that better health is integral to thriving whānau.

What does the package include?

In addition to dental, optical, GP consultations, and prescription benefits, the Everyday Health Plan also includes access to services as:

  • Rongoa Māori
  • vaccinations,
  •  physiotherapy,
  • dietician or nutritionist,
  • and osteopath support.

The package also offers a Tangihanga Support Benefit  which provides a cash grant  to support whānau with tangihanga/funeral costs, easing the financial burden on your loved ones during a challenging time.
