The time we spend with our whānau and friends becomes more precious as we grow older. That’s why we want to help our kaumātua get the support they need to enjoy life as much as possible without worrying about what happens if they become māuiui.
Since launching the Te Nehenehenui Everyday Health Plan in partnership with insurer, nib, many of our kaumātua have already enrolled and are enjoying the benefits, worth the equivalent of $6,800.
Being proactive today means you’re less likely to get māuiui in the future. It’s an investment in long-term health.
We don’t want any of our kaumātua to miss out, because at the end of the day, that’s exactly what this health insurance represents – looking after our own.
Here’s what it means in real terms:
- When you need new glasses to read to your mokopuna
→ Up to $250 covered - When your back’s playing up after working in the garden
→ Physiotherapy covered (up to $100) - When you want to see a Rongoā practitioner
→ Up to $500 for traditional healing - When it’s time for your regular GP check-up
→ Up to $350 in consultations covered - When the dentist says you need a filling
→ Up to $500 for dental work
If you’re 65 or over, your first year costs you nothing. And after that, it stays heavily subsidised because we want you to continue to access these specialised services to benefit your hauora.
And if you’re under 65 we haven’t forgotten about you! To support your own hauora and lead by example, you can join the scheme now for less than $50/month (per person). That’s right. $6,800 worth of benefits for just a fraction of the price.
“It includes health as well as funeral [costs] …it’s a complete package. That’s what was of interest to me was how comprehensive it is and it includes all of those things instead of having seperate pieces.”
– Ms Lynette Stafford
